Know two types of nosebleeds and how to distinguish

1. Anterior nosebleeds
Anterior nosebleeds occur if bleeding is coming from the bottom of the nasal septum. Nasal septum is the wall that separates the left and right nasal cavity. The inside of the nose has many blood vessels are smooth and receives blood from the carotid artery, the two main arteries in the neck that supply blood to the head and neck. Little knock or bump can cause the blood vessels rupture and bleed. This type of nosebleed can be easily treated at home, and this is a common type of nosebleeds in children.
Some things that cause anterior nosebleeds:
- Blowing air from the nose too hard or too often expelled air.
- Probe-digging the inside of the nose too hard so that it can damage the small blood vessels in it.
- The nose is hit or punched in the nose.
- Sinusitis, the inflammation in the nasal sinus passages.
- Flu or colds. Usually people who have the flu or a cold too often secrete mucus or up the nose, making the inside of the nose easily hurt.
- Climate. The weather is too hot can make the inside of the nose is too dry and cracked that can trigger nosebleeds.
- Elevation. Increased height means decreasing the amount of oxygen, making the air gets thin and dry. This can cause bleeding in the nose.
- Allergy in the nasal passage.
- Excessive use of drugs such as ibuprofen can cause nosebleeds.
- Liver disease could be related to blood clots and cause frequent nosebleeds.
- The use of illegal drugs by sucking it through the nose, such as cocaine.
2. Posterior nosebleeds
Posterior nosebleed occurs when the bleeding comes from the part that lies far behind, and the higher parts of the nose, where branches of arteries supplying blood to the nose. To that end, the type of bleeding is usually more severe nosebleeds. Posterior nosebleeds are usually more severe and serious than the anterior and need serious medical care. Usually these types of nosebleeds occur in adults.
Some causes of posterior nosebleeds:
- High blood pressure.
- Operations in the nasal nose.
- Lack of calcium.
- Exposure to chemicals that can irritate the membranes in the nose section.
- Sometimes this type of nosebleed can be a symptom of any [other diseases such as blood diseases (leukemia or hemophilia) and tumor.
